1 · The files

Drop files here or click to choose · a prepared .zip works too

2 · Where it came from

This is the methodology. A record without it is just a file on the internet.

What is this? One line. “A cassette recording of a 1974 union meeting.” Where did it come from? Who held it, and where it physically was. This is the field researchers rely on most. How did you get it? How it reached you, and how it was digitised if it was. Who has held it since? Everyone who has had it, in order, as far as you know. What's missing or uncertain? Damage, gaps, things you are unsure of. Saying so plainly makes the rest more trustworthy.

3 · What kind of material

Nothing here is peer reviewed by us. This says what kind of evidence it is, so a reader knows how much weight to give it.

Firsthand testimony You or someone you know witnessed or produced this directly. Raw observation or field notes Measurements, field notes or recordings, with no analysis applied. Secondary compilation Assembled from other sources, which a reader should check themselves. Interpretive claim It argues for a conclusion. The reasoning is yours. Preprint, not reviewed A paper or working draft that no reviewer has checked. Peer reviewed elsewhere Already reviewed in a named venue. You will be asked which.

4 · Context
